My good friend Janina just started homeschooling and had the most clever idea. Naming their homeschool. Simple enough, why didn't I think of that!? What a great idea! Thanks Janina!
So we talked about names for our homeschool. School colors. A mascot. Everyone participated in this and I am so happy that we are taking some pride in our little homeschool. Lucas had the best idea for the name of our school; Learning Tree Fun School. I love this name! We do have fun, lots of fun. Learning is just like a tree and learning with your family means good strong roots. Tobin wants our mascot to be a cuttlefish. We cuddle a lot. Cuttlefish are very intelligent and just super awesome creatures. Well I think my boys are super intelligent and awesome little creatures too. I got to pick the school colors which are red and sky blue. We are making t-shirts for our school. I have been sifting through my enormous collection of craft supplies and I promised myself to not purchase anymore until at least half of this bulk had been used up. I had a bunch of tie dye making goodies so we made tie dye shirts for our school. I also dyed some playsilks that we had. Why not right? We did two batches of tie dying on Monday that's just how much I had! Now I just gotta think of a clever way to get the name of our school on the shirts along with a silhouette of a tree. Or maybe a cuttlefish instead of a tree? This is all still in it's creative stages of development.
First on our list of school sports with school colors is the fabulous game of
Cornhole! The goofiest name for a game I know, but it's so much fun! Thanks Sarah for introducing this game to us.
It's a great party game, but also just for evenings outside in the summer with the fam. It's very easy and cheap to build
cornhole. I even found the bags at
etsy super cheap. The boys and I are going to prime and paint these by this weekend in our new school colors; red and sky blue and I am going to paint the silhouette of a winter tree on them too. I can't wait to share with you. Why oh why didn't I think of this sooner! Do you have a name for your homeschool?
We named our school Montana Creek Elementary after a creek we loved to visit in Alaska and my husband is from Montana so it seemed fitting. I love your idea for a name too! Our mascot is the huskies but I hadn't thought of school colors...guess we'll have to figure that one out!

Learning Tree Fun school is a terrific name! What fun you all do seem to have. And I bet there are not many cuttlefish mascotts out there!

hee hee. I love Dolphin Sunset Academy! Does Zach happen to love dolphins and sunsets? ;) It must be such a sweet learning/living experience living on a boat. That is so awesome.
Thanks again Sarah for introducing this to us! I have photos coming to you and your case ;) Hope your knee is getting better so you can play more this summer.

I love that you are building a cornhole set! I am happy to see the sport spreading throughout central Missouri. I can't wait to see how you decorate it!

This is funny because just earlier this week we were pondering the same question. Zach came up with Dolphin Sunset Academy. I am not going to make anything permanent though because I know him and the name is likely to evolve over the next couple of months. But I do think the name/ colors/ mascot thing is a fabulous idea!
